Behavioral & Emotional Consulting
When challenging behaviors or emotional struggles are holding you or your loved one back, Sparks Behavioral Services is here to help. Our Behavioral & Emotional Consulting provides one-on-one, individualized support using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to create real and lasting change. We work with clients of all ages – from young children to teens, adults, and even seniors – across Michigan. No matter the diagnosis (or even if there isn’t one), our mission is to replace challenging behaviors with positive skills so each person can lead a safer, happier life.
What we do
Personalized Behavior Plan
Using the assessment results, we develop a detailed Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) tailored to the individual’s needs. This plan outlines proactive strategies, teaching techniques, and supportive interventions to address each challenging behavior. Everything is customized – there are no one-size-fits-all solutions. We set clear goals, such as reducing aggression or improving communication skills, and define the steps to achieve them.
Comprehensive Behavior Plan
We begin by getting to know you and understanding the behaviors of concern. Our consultants conduct thorough assessments (including observations and interviews) to identify why the behavior is happening. This might include a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) to pinpoint triggers and what the individual gains from the behavior.
One-on-One Therapy & Coaching
Our trained behavior analysts and technicians work directly with the individual in their natural environments – at home, in the community, or even in residential facilities. During these sessions, we use ABA strategies like positive reinforcement, modeling, and gradual skill building. We might help a child learn coping skills to manage anxiety, teach a teenager safer ways to express frustration, or show an adult with developmental disabilities how to increase independence in daily tasks.
Family/Caregiver Training
We believe collaboration with caregivers is key to success. Throughout the consulting process, we coach family members, guardians, or support staff on how to implement the behavior plan consistently. You’ll learn practical techniques to handle challenging moments, encourage good behavior, and track progress. By empowering families and staff, we make sure positive changes continue 24/7 – not just during our visits.
Onging Support & Adjustment
Change doesn’t happen overnight, so we stick with you for as long as needed. Our team provides ongoing support and regularly scheduled check-ins. We monitor data on behavior improvements, celebrate successes, and fine-tune the plan if something isn’t working as expected. Over time, as significant progress is made, our involvement can fade out. Our ultimate goal is to equip you and your support network with the tools to succeed on your own – essentially, we work until we’re no longer needed!
